The Civil Rights Movement was the topic of today's lesson. No assignments were collected nor were any materials distrubuted today. Durring class, we finished watching the film about the Civil Rights Movement and we finished filling out the corresponding worksheet that we recieved last Friday. Today, the section of the film we watched covered Bloody Sunday. Afterwards, we took notes on the Civil Rights Movement and looked at a graphic organizer that listed several important court cases from this movement. We got our Term Quiz Four back. We recorded our grade on the terms quiz assignment sheet and were asked to write down what we will do to be better prepared for Quiz Five, how long it took us to complete Terms list Four, and how much of the chapter we read. Tomorrow is Terms Quiz Five and Terms notebooks are due.
We picked up a handout at the door.It had a document and an essay prompt on it. We took terms quiz 5 and turned in our terms notebook. Afterwards, we worked with the handout me recieved when we walked in the door. We were split up into groups to analyze the document and then we created even larger groups made up of all different documents to discuss them and how we could group them together in an essay.
Wednesday, 9/24/08 Georgia Mitchell, 2nd Period. The African American Civil Rights Movement DBQ was the class topic. No Assignments were collected. The DBQ essay prompt was picked up at the door. Our terms notebooks were passed out to us,but were not yet graded. We first went over the blogging cite login and process. We then switched our notebooks with a partner to grade them, and recorded our own grades in our Data Analysis sheet. We got into our DBQ groups and went over the prompt. After 15 minutes of work, we went over our ideas together to begin answering our essay.
Today's topic was DBQ grading standards. We picked up three handouts at the door: a small essay rubric, a standard size essay rubric, and the 1995African Civil Rights Movement DBQ. We sat in our groups of three in a triad arrangement. We then went over the essay rubric (grading standards for DBQ). We were given twenty minutes to write an essay answer to the DBQ prompt. Each person was given a sample essay to grade, using the small rubric to average the score. Afterwards, we graded our own essay, and we wrote our grade on the back of our paper. There is a test next Tuesday.
Note: i am late blogging because i worked all afternoon, went to the game, and helped a massive wreck on 90. i saw a dead person, and believe me, it wasnt a pretty, peaceful dead person (it was quite graphic, ill provide details if desired). so, my thoughts are kind of clouded. i shall, however, attempt to recall the events of this morning, which, at the moment, seems to have been a long time ago
Today we picked up the study guide thing at the door, and spent most of class reviewing the guide and the procedures, and how to properly create a timeline. We also discussed that the test has been moved to THURSDAY of next week. thats all i remember. STUDY HARD!
There is no terms list this week, but remember that we have a UNIT TEST this thursday, with a corresponding study guide due on the test day. Good luck!
