Topic: Begin Unit 3, History Fair Assignment #2 Due Thursday, Terms List #8 Due Friday,
Thursday and Friday: Meet in Computer Lab Rm 219

Today, we started Unit 3: The Road to Revolution (1750-1783), which encompasses ID Terms Lists 6 and 7.

We took notes on a political cartoon from 1754, attributed to Benjamin Franklin. The political cartoon was of a cut up snake with an abbreviation for a colony next to each piece. At the bottom, the caption reads, "JOIN, or DIE."

ID Terms List #8 is due Friday.

On Thursday and Friday (October 27 and 28), the class will be meeting at the computer lab, room 219.

On Thursday, 10/27, the second assignment for History Fair is due. It is entitled, "2012 Theme: 'Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History'"

Topic: North America maps, before 1754 and after 1763; 7 Years War/French and Indian War

Today, we looked at two maps of North America during the colonial period. We noted literal content and made inferences. The main difference in the map were caused by the French and Indian War.

We were given a sheet (either pink or green). One side has the two maps we looked at today and another graphic; the other side has DBQ documents. The question is missing from the top of this side: In what ways did the French and Indian War (1754-1763) alter the political economic, and ideological relations between Britain and its American colonies?

Thursday and Friday, will be in the computer lab (219).
We will take Terms Quiz #8 in the lab on Friday.
History Fair Assignment #2 (Topic Selection, i.e. 2012 Theme: "Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History") is due tomorrow (Thursday).

Commenting on Melissa Thomas's review of Wednesday

I really liked the way you added every detail that we did in class that day and especially adding in the question that was left out on the sheet. Really great review, I don't think there was really anything more to add, other then to finish the terms that are due Friday and to study them!

Topic: History Fair Research

Today, we discussed where to find resources for our History Fair research. We logged onto Schoology, where there is a folder called history fair with many useful documents. We looked at Online_Research_12
One of the best places to look for resources is lincoln.leon.k12.fl.us/media/menu/menu.htm
The passwords for the websites can be found at lincoln.leon.k12.fl.us/media
Click on resources, then password info. The username is medias, and the password is lhs.

We also talked about the differences between primary and secondary sources, and we looked at the Primary source wolf sample.

Don't forget, Terms Quiz #8 is Friday, and we will be in lab 219.

Terms Quiz #8 and History Fair Research

Today class took place in Computer Lab 219. We took out terms quiz via Schoology. Due to some technical difficulties, a few students will have to retake theirs at a later date. After the quiz, we compared primary and secondary sources, learned how to complete advanced searches on Google, and began our research.

On Wednesday, November 2, the summary of the article "Classifying 'Sources' for Clarity in Teaching" is due at 11:59 PM to the dropbox at Schoology. The next History Fair assignment is due the following Thursday. Don't forget these dates, and have a good weekend.

Commenting/Reviewing McKayla Moors review of Friday

You misspelled the word "our" and accidently spelled it "out". Good job on reminding us that we have an assignment due on Schoology and the History Fair assignment is due Thursday. I would have just talked about what we did in class a little but more but overall great job.

Reviewing Amberley Bailey 10/25/2011

You did a really good job including everything we did that day and what upcoming assignments are due. You did however, repeat a lo of the same things, but overall this was a very good post, very informal.

Reviewing Melissa Thomas 10/27/2011

It would have been great if you offered more information about the website and where exactly we went. You could have included more information about what was done in class that day, like the examples we looked at and stuff like that. This was a very god post, but it could have been perfect with a little more information about what we did at the website.
