Monday, April 27 Sarah Rudder, 2 Today we played charades to guess some important quotes from history. Then Mrs. McCarron lectured on the underlying problems of the 1920s that led to the Great Depression. Nothing was due and no handouts were given. There are no important dates you should know except for a study session at someone's house soon. I lost my sheet.
Tuesday, April 28 Sarah Rudder, 2 Today Ms. McCarron continued lecture on the beginning of the Great Depression. Here are my notes from today: -Dawe's Plan: U.S. loans money to Germany after WWI, Germany pays England and France, and England and France pay U.S. back -the violation of the Naval Arms limitations by Japan and Germany lead to WWII -1929: stock market crashes because of unchecked speculation -Oct. 29 is Black Thursday -banks have loaned out more money than they have because they haven't been regulated.
Today we talked about the New Deal from FDR. (relief recovery and reform) "we have nothing to fear but fear itself" Here are some of my notes: Hoover took action during his presidency but since there was no immediate reaction he is blamed for everything.
Unemployment-applys to the official workforce. Farmers have seasonal work so don't apply, no kids who do simple jobs count, no immigrant workers count. By 1933 Unemployment is around 14,000,000.
Civilian Conservation Core-taking the boys out of the cities away from their families giving them jobs around a dollar a day and they only got to keep around two dollars every month the rest was shipped to their families.
EXAM IS VERY SOON! PLEASE STUDY! study session tomorrow, walk right in. Don't park on neighbors lawns.
Today we had three pickups:take home test part A due Monday, Timeline worksheet, and Sister Wendy note guide worksheet.
We began class watching Sister Wendy talk about modern art Abstract Expressionists, Pop artist, and Minimalists. This is because according to McCarron modern art has been on the test for awhile.
After the movie we began to work on a timeline of events that deal with U.S. and foreign actions leading to WWII. This needs to be complete by tomorrow morning. FINISH IT!
Friday, May 1 Ishi Singh, 2 Today we graded other peoples' DBQs from the practice exam. Also, we wrote an essay on the United States and foreign affairs during the Interwar period. For this, we could use the timeline that was due today. Take-home Test due Monday. Exam in a week. STUDY.
