Today we took another quiz on one section of the United States. We listened to "Mr. Custer" by Larry Verne and identified things that were accurate and inaccurate about the lyrics. We also looked at the painting "Custer's Last Stand" by Edgar Samuel Paxson. Lecture on the battle of Little Bighorn. We also talked about Buffalo Bill and the Wild West Show, Native American assimilation into society, and the movement of Native Americans to areas that were not arable or wanted by any others.
Tuesday, February 10 Brody Enwright 2 Indian Wars Today was a shortened period due to FCAT Writes so we took the ID terms list 18 quiz which cannot be dropped. There was an extra credit quiz also
Today, we had various "off content" topics addressed about school times and scheduling, etc. Following we learned about the rights and laws of the Indian society while on their federal "reservations". WE furthermore learned about the assimilation of Indians into society, i.e learning tradeskills, dressing appropriatly, clean hair cuts, and religion.(Christianity) As well as learning the "Ghost Dance", which was a ritual, and considered a "religion" to some, which the government felt threatening and banned in 1884.
Friday, February 13, 2009 B. Enwright Today the topic was the cowboy era. We listened to a cowboy song about the dogies and learned about the routes from South Texas. Also we studied robber barrons. Dont forget that on Wednesday we have a double unit Test which means the study guides must be done and there are no terms lists due this week.
Don't forget we have a unit test next week, therefore we will NOT be having a terms quiz on Tuesday. Test projected for friday, most likely. Work on the Unit 6 and Unit 7 timelines and study guides you received in class on Friday. They are due on the day of the unit test. Enjoy the three day weekend. and good luck to those who have a lang exam on monday.
