Today in class, we discussed History Fair and the DBQ assignment.
Lecture Notes:
Election of 1824
- candidates: Jackson (TN), Clay (KY), Crawford (GA) and Quincy Adams (MA).
- Since nobody won the majority, the president was to be chosen from the top three (Jackson, Adams, Crawford) by the House. They chose Adams.
- Clay, who had dropped out of the race, was the Speaker. Jackson, angered, called it a corrupt bargain when Clay was made Adams's Secretary of State.

Era of Hard Feelings and Nullification Crisis
- Supporters of Jackson and Adams insulted each other, as the Republicans began to split into the Democrats and Whigs.
- Jackson's supporters tried to ruin Adams's image by passing the Tariff of Abominations(1828).
- Jackson got blamed instead by the unhappy southern states.
- Calhoun, the VP, secretly published the South Carolina Exposition and Protest which supported nullification.
- Soon, SC nullifies the Tariff
- Clay makes Compromise of 1833: the tariff would be lowered, but the Force Bill will allow Jackson to send in an army if needed.

Today we had the Unit 5 Test. Nothing was picked up.
We turned in our summary sheets with the inserted timeline. We did not have to turn in notebooks, but are given the option to turn it in if it's the difference in a letter grade at the end of the grading period. Don't forget to start #13 terms list over the weekend. It's due Tuesday, 12/16.

Remember to do your terms for Tuesday which goes on next nine weeks. Start off on the right track! There are three extra credit opportunities: biblyography, carol, or nickolodeon. The blog site says more about that. Get a lot of sleep for Wednesday morning :)
